Punta Espada in Cap Cana is selected as one of the 10 Best Golf Courses in the Caribbean by the renowned Forbes Traveler

This grand recognition once again reiterates Punta Espada’s excellence for its pristine condition, majestic course play, and unparalleled scenery as it combines with the natural wonder of the most important tourism real estate development in the Caribbean: Cap Cana – The World’s New Great Destination.

The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in Cap Cana, titled Punta Espada, has been selected as one of the 10 Best Golf courses in the Caribbean by the renowned magazine Forbes Traveler, in its recent June edition of 2008.

The first of three Nicklaus Signature Courses to play in the World’s New Great Destination reached the second position of this prestigious annual list of Forbes Traveler, confirming is position as one of the best courses in the region and the world.

Special characteristics that are uniquely attributed to Punta Espada consist of the paradisiacal atmosphere that fills its layout, of which the beautiful Caribbean Sea hugs the fairways and greens of 8 holes, and further unbelievable views can be observed from the remainder of this impressive par 72 championship course.

The thirteenth hole, considered its “signature hole”, represents the ultimate challenge for golfers required to tee off over the turquoise blues of the Caribbean to reach the magnificent par 3 green.

Punta Espada is distinctive in the Dominican Republic as it incorporates 100% “Paspalum” grass; the surface preferred in tropical climates because of its resistance to salt water and its vibrant green color.

With an investment of 18 million dollars, the beginning and end of a spectacular round of golf is met with the most beautiful Club House containing premium facilities, restaurants, and services to host the world’s best. In April, Jack Nicklaus selected the club to be the “10th Destination of the International Nicklaus Club”, an exclusive privilege for a limited number of Nicklaus Signature golf courses around the world.

Since its inauguration towards the close of 2006, Punta Espada has received numerous distinctions including Golf Digest’s 2007 edition of the World’s 100 Best Golf Courses. Other accolades attributed to the Cap Cana course come from the Robb Report as one of the most extraordinary golf courses in the world, during its “Best of the Best for 2007" edition. Troon Golf, leading international course management company, manages Punta Espada and has awarded it “the Best New Facility Worldwide by Troon Golf” during its 2008 Annual Conference in Tucson, Arizona.

Such grand recognition once again reiterates Punta Espada’s excellence for its pristine condition, majestic course play, and unparalleled scenery as it combines with the natural wonder of the most important tourism real estate development in the Caribbean: Cap Cana – The World’s New Great Destination.
