Marina
The month of May proved to be a difficult one for our program, we started the month with some slow fishing and challenging weather conditions at times. This brought our search to several new areas that we scouted over the banks and canyons available from Cap Cana,

the sub structures within a 30 miles radius are some of the best we have ever seen and are looking very promising when the right conditions will be in place. We have noted less amounts of bait offshore than April. The water temperatures have been between 82.4 and a max of 84.9 F. Currents on some days were over 3.5 KTS creating sections of clear breaks with waves of up to 10-12 ft.and relatively calm on the other side.

We logged 18 days of fishing in May and raised 23 White Marlin and 11 Blue Marlin.

The back side of the May moon has produced the better results as numbers and fish behavior.

Our best days were 26 May - 6 White Marlin and 31 May - 4 Blue Marlin and 1 White Marlin

There is still presence of wahoo and dorado as seen by the many catches landed by boats at the full marina.

Nine year old, Jack McCluskey, is the youngest angler to reach the Royal Slam Billfish Category

Cap Cana, Dominican Republic, April 12, 2010. - The coast of Cap Cana has been the perfect setting for Jack McCluskey, from Palm Beach, Fl., who was able to break the impressive record of the Billfish Royal Slam last Saturday. The Royal Slam achievement is undoubtedly the most difficult accomplishment in the world of sport fishing in any existing categories, as it requires time, a lot of planning and many trips to do it. To accomplish this ambitious feat the angler must capture each of the nine species listed below in their respective habitats to qualify. Many men and women have traveled thousands of miles their entire life trying to accomplish this feat and 9 year old little Jack has been able to achieve it in 10 months, becoming the youngest angler ever to get the record, which until now, less than 100 people in the world have been able to achieve.

The east coast of the Dominican Republic enjoys the game-fish trifecta of deep-blue waters, tons of fishy offshore topography and a steady flow of white and blue marlin passing through on their annual migrations. It only stands to reason that eventually a world-class resort and marina would take advantage of these idyllic shores. Marina Cap Cana did just that, and the project raised the bar to a whole new level for Caribbean marinas.

The Dominican Republic’s eastern shore is an offshore fishing paradise.

The Dominican Republic (commonly called simply“the D.R.” by visitors) occupies the eastern portion of the island of Hispaniola, with Haiti occupying the west, and the D.R.’s eastern shoreline definesthe western edge of the Mona Passage, one of the major thoroughfares betweenthe Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Puerto Rico sits 65 nm tothe east of Hispaniola and defines the eastern side of the passage.
